The Lorcaun Concord

The Guild / Bestiary

A joint record of the Lorcaun Concord

Creatures of Adventura

Lorcaun correspondents in Foraysha, Ryn'Quay and Sabi-Thra keep this record — “the most diverse and widespread species of Adventura”, though Huraoken has no native Lorcaun. Watch the tree-line long enough and something always moves first. A wingbeat the canopy shouldn't allow. A ripple where the lakebed has no business rippling. A weight settling in beside a tamer that wasn't there a moment ago — and is now, because it chose to be. The Concord is the rare outsider who gets close enough to write any of it down, and shares what it learns with the Guild that houses it.

15 beasts tracked
10 summons recorded
5 tiers, d4 to d12
1 entry incomplete

A sixteenth packet — the Earth Channeler Mole — is missing its field description; only a torn page of its 15th-level training notes survives in the archive. The Concord's archivist has asked any tamer with a complete record to come forward.

Reading the record

Each entry is filed by the size of die its Powers are built around — a budget for how much weight its abilities carry, nothing more. That number says nothing about how big a creature actually stands (size rating runs on its own separate ledger; plenty of d4s out-mass their d12 cousins) or how long a tamer waits to earn one. A level 1 tamer with the right background can bring home a d12 partner as easily as a d4. Summoned creatures carry no die at all; they are filed together at the end of the record.

d4

Don't mistake the lighter budget for a smaller story. Quick reflexes, sharp instincts, the kind of cunning that survives by never quite being where the danger expected it. Some of the steadiest, most quietly capable companions in this whole record carry a d4 — proof that surviving well has never required hitting hard.

Basilisk

d4

A serpentine creature with a quasi-humanoid torso and arms, the majority of its form is distinctly reptilian with either bright or dark green scales.

A small feline predator mid-stalk, wrapped in its own private snowstorm, barely visible until it's already too close.

d6

Here the record starts showing real range. A wingbeat that shouldn't be possible at that wingspan. A shape that blurs at the edge and reforms somewhere else entirely. Each of these has read its corner of Adventura — Huraoken's skies, the Sabi-Thra sands, Ryn'Quay's mountain caves — and answered it with a trick the lighter tier never needed.

Dragonfly

d6

This creature looks akin to a large monitor lizard, having a long snout, squat powerful limbs that end in sharp slender claws and whip like tail.

d8

Something changes in the air when one of these moves. Not louder, exactly — just more. This is the tier where training stops running one direction. The companion can do real damage now, and the fact that it doesn't, won't, not unless the tamer beside it says so, is the whole reason the Guild bothers keeping a record at all.

Bihorn

d8

A massive carnivorous quadruped with twin wicked horns that curve upward and a mouth full of massive fangs. The Bihorn has a shaggy coat of either brown, black or in rare cases a soft blue.

d10

Watch one take a hit that would fold lesser things and barely break stride. Nothing at this tier is in a hurry. Whatever's coming, it already decided to still be standing when it's over — and the only thing it asks in return is the patience to let it.

Abominable Walrus

d12

Lightning given a body. A mane of razor quills. A dozen vine limbs ending in flowers full of fangs. These are the names still repeated around Guild fires long after the tamers who carried them are gone, and the ones every new recruit secretly hopes will choose them first. None of that is a claim about size — check the rating before you promise one a doorway. It's a claim about everything else.
